We took a day trip to Tikkal in Guatemala on our fourth day of the Belize trip. While driving through, the difference in infrastructure between Guatemala and Belize was extremely noticeable.
When we reached Tikkal, we climbed temple 4 and 3, and saw the amazing views of the forest in Guatemala. At our lunch site, there was a scaled 3D map of a reconstructed Mayan village back when it was still inhabited and how expansive it was. It was truly amazing to see how they built that high without wheels.
We learned that Tikkal was used for religious purposes for temples. Unfortunately, 2 people fell and died when hiking up the temples, so they were closed temporarily, but reopened before we came.
Photos coming soon.
